Haven't found the container of "swan shot" but did find a steel tool box made for a Skilsaw packed with boxes of shotgun shells. Dear old Dad had cold chiseled out the interior brackets of the box that had held the saw and accessories and packed it with boxes of shotgun shells. Six of the white Super-X boxes of 12-gauge 3-inch compression formed 1 5/8 ounce loads, three #4 and three #6. The ratty remains of one of the three late 1930s vintage Remington ARROW EXPRESS 12-gauge 3-inch 1 5/8 ounce shells that came with my Super-Fox when I got it the summer of 1963. This box was #6 shot and still has 14 shells. As I recall the other two boxes were #4 and #5 shot. The odd thing is two boxes of 10-gauge shells. A 1940s vintage box of Remington Express #4s, and this 1933 to 1935 vintage Winchester REPEATER Super-Speed shells --

While I do recall my Father briefly owning a couple of different 10-gauges, I don't remember him ever hunting with either of them -- a Syracuse L.C. Smith and a Manhatten Arms.

Charlie, I'll have to look at my chamber insert supply. I probably only have 8 to 12.

Charlie, I have one beautiful set of brass 8 to 10 for my Jones underlever McComas, Maryland gun. I have no idea why I had them made 8 to 10, maybe an error in transmitting my wishes to the machinist. To answer another question, "He is not making any more inserts." Who does?

some one in Australia is making a few chamber inserts..a while back on ebay he had a set for a 4 ga to 8 ga...I started to get them but a fellow cannot own every thing.... I took one of the chamber mates that was a 10 to 12 split it length wise shaped it to a 10 ga shell it works good in fact shot it yesterday in the old davenport 8 ga single barrel....charlie

Well goose hunting I always go for the head. Probably the same on swan.

Smart plan - that is the most vulnerable part of those big birds but just like turkey shooting, a dense pattern is key.
