The serialization book shows 3 consecutive guns, all as above. All I needed to find was 55,095. Yeah, Right!
As they were not really consecutive, and I had others, I eventually sold them. Both went to members, and I know one was resold, as it shows up at Mr. Barnett's site (Right, Eric?)
The other went to the Pea Picker.
Well, damned if what didn't show up on the Morphy Auction site:

I have the same exact gun with 28" bbls. Serial number is 72105

Interesting post. I have two grade 2 16s that are consecutively numbered. I bought them a year apart at auction not knowing they were so numbered. Both are lightening cut O frames. Not in the greatest condition, but nice pieces of history.

55,094, 095 and 096 were all 26" Grade 0 guns.
55,094 was sold to Mr. JG Bellrose of Burlington, Vermont and shipped on August 7th, 1890.

55,096 was sold to L.H.Mayott, of Springfield, Massachusetts, and shipped on August 7th, 1890
L.H.Mayott was a sporting goods retailer.

After an hour of swamp crossings, and deciding it was still early for them, it occurred to me that my dog was having too much fun to call it a wasted hike 11 years old and still a pup.

Mills, they are 1886-87 shipped guns (oddly enough, shipped about a year apart, but with consecutive serial numbers). I assume made in advance to have on hand and sent out when an order arose. I had Brad Batchelder restore one of them -- it was pretty rough. Neither is a very light gun, even with the 0 frame and lightening cuts. Both have 28 inch barrels and were originally choked pretty tightly, although the '87-shipped gun has had its right barrel choke opened at some point in time...and a straight stock (with Parker long tang and serial number stamping under it) added somewhere along the road. Certainly not collector status guns, but "venerable" none the less.

Very nice!!!! And a straight grip too!

Dean appreciate the photos, I just picked up a 1-frame, Grade 1, 12 with twist barrels.

your photos helped in determining it to be a grade 1.

Thanks,

Mike B
