Christmas came early for me too, I bought a nice colt python with a mat finish, 4" barrel, 80's vintage, pachmar grips.

Rich, Congratulation! Let us know how she is when you get her!

Bill Murphy 12-11-2010 04:42 PM

Autumn, the buttplate is the one usually used on a #1 1/2 frame gun. The #2 frame buttplate is the one with the retriever. Of course, we don't see a lot of #2 frame guns that late, so maybe the #1 1/2 style buttplate was used. I sure am glad one of us got that great gun. Congratulations, Richard. The condition of this gun is astounding.

Dave Suponski 12-11-2010 04:57 PM

Bill, Thank you very much for the education. I guess I don't pay enough attention to the difference in butt plates.

Ya, It's good to see one of us grabbed that gun. Dean was the one that tipped me off to it but right now I have too many 30" guns.

Congrats Rich !!! Looks like a dandy.

Richard Flanders 12-11-2010 07:45 PM

Too many 30" guns, eh? Thanks to you Mr Autumn, SO DO I !!! Looking forward to a stout #2 frame gun though. Late season wild pheasants beware. It will make a great mate to my 26" SG VH12 that looks nearly identical.

Dave Suponski 12-11-2010 07:50 PM

Rich, I really can't take the credit on that one. Dean called me about the gun and when he said he wasn't in the market for another 12 I told him that I would throw it up on our site so that's how that happened. But I'm real happy you grabbed it Rich. Let us all know if it's as good as it look's when you recieve it.

Richard Flanders 12-11-2010 08:16 PM

I think it will look just fine. It's v likely a train wreck internally from the looks of the screw slots but I'll dismantle it for a cleaning before I ever shoot it. I wouldn't doubt it's never been apart. I think there's a v v small crack behind the top tang also; you can see it in the pics. We'll see about that when it arrives.

All this X-Mass jibberish and good cheer has caused me to browse some of my favorite gun sites. No new Parkers but since I have been very, very good this year:whistle: I'm trying to adopt a Colt Match Target. It will make a nice stocking stuffer and a good companion to a tricked out Ruger 10/22. Those rascally rabbits will be in for it now.:rotf:
