Bit of Trivia
1 Attachment(s)
Just looking at the grip caps on my guns and noticed that the small size has a period or comma after MERIDEN but the large size doesn't?!?
Attachment 85644 |
The reproduced DHBP's that I have tried (3) are slightly under sized with the hole spacing a little short. These are no. 1 size. Two are made from the same mold and were not good examples to be using for that purpose as they have the same defects, small chips and the sides are not right. It would be nice if we had a source for better made ones. I had rather fit the plate to the stock than fit the stock to the plate. If someone had a good example to use to make a mold would it ruin it to use it?

The one on my 00-frame VHE appears to have a period there where it should be a comma. Parker Bros. were always very good at proper punctuation in their roll stamps for rib legends and elsewhere if punctuation was expected for proper English. . |
Another real trivia grip cap item. Did they make a small size PARKER / ILION, N.Y. grip cap? In another thread about 20-gauge 241779 I noticed it has a PARKER BROS. / MERIDEN. CONN. grip cap.

I believe they did for the smallbore guns.

One of our highly esteemed PGCA Members has a Remington era Parker .410 Skeet gun with a Parker Bros. Meriden, Conn. grip cap.
. |
That would be odd in more ways than one. Weren't most 410 guns half (uncapped) pistol grips?

I saw another Skeet configured .410 at the Kittery Trading Post in Maine about 15 years ago that also had the Meriden grip cap. . |
