Jonathan, please don’t confuse the perceived value of a family heirloom with the actual monetary value of ‘hard ridden’ old shotgun. You’ll be disappointed.

Jhonathon here are a few points that nobody has touched upon. Your gun has been worked over pretty good by an amateur. It has had the frame blued (should have been case colored). The barrels have also been blued. Can't tell wether they are hot blued or cold blued from your photos. The wood has been refinished and the checkering recut (by an amateur). All of this detracts from the value significantly. Your gun has more value as a parts gun because of the grade of the gun and the poor workmanship. I am no expert and these faults jump right out at me. Have your barrels inspected and shoot it. No one on this forum likes to be the barer of bad news. Don't judge them to harshly.

Hello,
I've had the gun looked at and have been assured that the gun has not been blued in any way. I will keep the rest of the information I received for myself. For the meantime I will to keep the gun. I want to thank you all for your reactions and wish you all the best. No hard feelings. |
Well, then you were given BAD information.
