The fluid steel barrel looked aftermarket to me.

From -Auction and Services in Midland Texas on Proxibid tomorrow price now is $2000.00 next bid, $2,100.00

Well... the answer to what its worth is... whatever it sells for at the close of the auction.

Barrel length is 26", don't know what chokes are or wall thickness. I would like to be the Buyer at a fair market value but don't know what that is

Jim DiSpagno 05-17-2019 05:24 PM

You might be better off on Guns International as John Allen has one on there at a very reasonable price and John is very good to deal with. As an aside, I have no interest in either guns. Just my opinion

Thanks Jim, I appreciate the insight.

With all due respect Vince if you do not know the barrel measurements and do not know how to interpret them then you have no chance of determining a fair market value. That value could be anywhere from very little for a parts gun to a reasonable amount for a shooter. It appears that you may be just entering this doubles game so it might be best to get a little education before you get in too deep. Hang around this site long enough and you will find plenty of good folks willing to help you out. Best of luck to you.

Randy gives good advice and we have all been there ourselves. Good luck to you! If that gun works out, it would be a nice one

That’s the deal with auctions. You take more risk in hope of getting a price below that if you had bought from a dealer. The difference is often information. The higher end auction houses such as Morphy’s and Rock Island do a much better job describing and screening their guns, thus bringing more bidders and often higher prices. It’s the classic risk/reward of the free market. Sometimes you get a great deal, and sometimes you get burned. For pricier guns, I prefer to go with Morphy’s or Rock Island, pay a little more and mitigate some of the risk until I become more knowledgeable as a shooter and collector. That said, there are no guarantees and on the other side, you can still find some amazing deals!

Oh yes, and if you post it here and it is an amazing deal, you’re inviting a whole bunch of competing bidders;)
