I am alright with replacing the wood "if" it's the best option for the situation at hand but I would certainly rather not do this when there is a better option I can make work. Some times we just don't have that option with wood, now with chokes that's another matter IMO. Not sure what the wood situation is with the gun in question here but I am curious now. What is the reason for the restock Andrew ??

I have restocked a couple. I can shoot F/F chokes but not a 13 inch LOP or 3 1/2 inches of drop. Keep the original stock if you restock and the gun can be put back to factory, take out the choke and there s no going back.

I agree with Paul. A stock can be made to fit with adaption to length and drop with removable pads and sleeves. The three I restocked were as follows: The hammer 20 gauge had a broken stock with three separate repairs and it kept failing. The 16 gauge came to me without a stock. The 12 gauge was returned to me by Sherman Bell with shattered stock.

Rich, shoot the way you should, with your head up. And slip on a recoil pad with a 1/2" spacer, then you'll have 14 1/2" LOP. BINGO - just saved you a grand or so in restocking fees. As my dad use to say " use your head for something else than separating your ears."
