I just got home from an extended vacation and found PP waiting in the mailbox. Dean has done an outstanding job of editing and arranging. IMO this is one of the best issues I’ve ever read. All the authors did an outstanding job with their contributions. Speaking for my article, Dean made it much more appealing by his selection and placements of the photos. Julia gets the credit for taking the pictures. She is always willing to help out.

Thanks very much Mike.

I’ve said it before and I’m glad to say it again... A great deal of how “eye-appealing” Parker Pages is must be credited to our layout artist, Brandon Hoffman, at our publisher.

The high quality pictures are the result of you folks sending me the high resolution pictures I can work with.
I can crop them and enhance them without fear of losing any clarity of detail because of what I start witn.

I specify the pages I want the pictures on and how big I want the pictures to be (on a ‘space available’ basis) but Brandon brings it all together to that which you get in your mailboxes.
When he has done his magic he then sends me an electronic version of the magazine and I make the final adjustments and send it back to him with my approving “Print it!” reply.

Best, Dean

I especially liked the article on “Beaters” ! And the the thing I noticed most in the pictures was Niles Osterle with his trusty “Thermacell” strapped on

The Thermacells are life savers. There was a major mosquito hatch the second day I was there hunting. The mosquitoes were swarming on the turkeys and speculation was it stopped all the gobbling. I don’t think I got one bite while using the Thermacell.

Insect repellant is one of the most important things while turkey hunting

Thanks for the compliments Russ.

There have been no recent additions to Parkers Found so, in order to allow for a couple of more articles, I left it out.

Many members can jump start Parkers Found by contacting Josh Loewensteiner with data on your rare or ‘first of’ or ‘last of’ or highly unusual (documented) Parkers. I know I have a few I’ve never submitted to Josh for inclusion in Parkers Found, so I’m guilty too.

Dean, turn some of those in! I want to get my early lifter “hinge pin” gun in!

Dean Romig 09-07-2018 12:48 PM

I should do that Mark. I’ll send a few serial numbers to Josh before the Winter Issue comes out.
