Spreader loads

Thanks to all I'm going to get some RST spreader loads next week and go do some pattern testing. Does 30 yd sound right distance ?

Thirty is good David and I would try 25 and 35 yards too.

In my testing , my reloaded 7/8th oz 7 1/2s spreader loads with full choke would give me improved cylinder patterns. at 40 yds. in my shooting I do see a big difference in my scores in sporting clays. but that's just what I see in my shooting. I only shoot them in my full choke barrel, I found in my pattern testing that they shoot better patterns in the tighter the chokes.

If the first clay is going away and the second clay is a crosser I will shoot the left barrel first at the going away target. I am able to get more versatility out of my tight Parkers without spreader loads.

Choke constriction lies in the mind of the shooter. If you think you can't shoot a tight choked gun effectively you won't. If you just go shoot the gun and forget what its choked and concentrate on the target the hits will improve. I regularly shoot guns choked from skt to full without a noticeable difference in scores. Would I want a full choked grouse gun? not really but I'd hunt them with one if I had to.

if you can't use and enjoy the gun as it is then sell it and get something else.

A pigeon shooting friend thinks that if you want to remain happy you should never do the following;
1. Check your cholesterol.
2. Have an AIDS test.
3. Pattern your shotgun.
