Well, that pretty much confirms what I thought when I saw it. I certainly don't have the knowledge or experience, but nice to know my instincts are still OK :).
Don't get me wrong - pretty gun, and I'd find a place for it in my cabinet. But... |
The OP says it was made in 1904. But, isn't that a Remington era buttplate, missing the "Brothers" under dog's head? Much later than 1904...

Same as a trojan that was discussed in another thread that wears the same buttplate. Also went through the delgrego shop.

Fajens in Warsaw Missouri supplied rough cut and inletted walnut blanks to the gunsmith for $25 each.
