Then Marlins shouldn’t be allowed. Skeuse Parkers were licensed by Remington.

Mills Morrison 04-22-2018 04:27 PM

Marlins aren't allowed and that was the thinking behind no Parker repros

calvin humburg 04-22-2018 05:07 PM

They wanted to keep it old school I would speculate. Use the force, Luke :)

Wrong Mills--from what I can read. See Rule 1 copied below

GUNS & EQUIPMENT

1. Shooters must use a vintage double shotgun manufactured by the gun maker represented by their Organization. Those shooting LC Smith guns and representing the LCSCA are limited to LC Smith guns manufactured in Syracuse and Fulton, NY; and those manufactured under Marlin Firearms ownership in New Haven, CT. Those shooting Parker Bros. or Parker labeled guns and representing the PGCA are limited to Parker guns manufactured in Meriden, CT; and Ilion, NY.

Riddle me that one Bat-man.

I'm gonna shoot my Skeuse Parker.

Mills Morrison 04-22-2018 06:26 PM

I was thinking about the recent marlin LC Smiths

George M. Purtill 04-22-2018 06:39 PM

Perhaps but why are we splitting hairs?
we can shoot the Skeuse Parkers in the Fox competition and they can shoot CSMC Foxes.

calvin humburg 04-24-2018 06:33 AM

George do you shoot ur repo better than ur original?

George M. Purtill 04-24-2018 06:52 AM

Yes I do because I shoot it all season on ducks-it’s a SSS. It has modern dimensions and I don’t mind running modern ammunition in it.

It's not the arrow. It's the Indian!!! So shoot it. All the best!
Buddy

I personally agree that Parker retros SHOULD be allowed for the competition. And as to the new Remington/CSMC guns, hey... if someone is going to drop $50k for one, they should be able to shoot it in anything that they want. But... it is not my call.

The Marlin Smiths made directly after Hunter's manufacture of them were true smith guns by design. The newer ones were italian guns of different design and were "smiths" in name only. So I completely understand the position taken there.
