I know that but if that is a game bird that has reached that height flying away the 28 may be at its limit; just thought the drawing was funny.

Damn guys, now I'm really thinking I NEED a 28.

I just drove through Chicago this afternoon, I think I would have paid that just to get into the store. Many great guns came through this establishment, one of my favorites being Barry Duckworth's George Gibbs 505.

A friend's father once told me that when he was growing up in Macon Mississippi that every Jan. Marshall Field and a group of his friends would get on the train with guns, cases of shells, birds dogs and head south where they rented the entire Macon Hotel. They send a man ahead of them line places to hunt and to take of everything they needed. As he remembered they stayed three to four weeks and bird hunted. Gone are the days.

Marshall Field where I grew up was a go to place for guns and sporting equipment. I also recall buying a Browning (Belgium of course) grade 2 T Bolt 22 rifle from them. Sometime I think progress is one step forward and two steps backwards.

Nice story. I heard that he was a big sportsman and I seem to recall he shot Parker(s)? No surprise there. Field died in 1906. I hope his guns are safe & sound in someone's collection. Sometimes I think I was born 100 years too late...
