Very nice Phil. Looks like my rig except for the scope, mine has a full adjustable tang site. Only have one more full box of Savage left.

The 250 Savage is a great deer cartridge. I have one in a pre64 M70 unfortunately the rifles originally chambered in it had a 1:14 twist rate IIRC to stabilize the light bullets used to get the advertised 3000 FPS. With very careful hand loading I can get just over an inch at 100 yards with a 100gr spritzer bullet.
I should sell it and buy a more modern rifle with a quicker twist rate but what fun would that be??:) |

This ammunition is not cheap, but, it duplicates original ballistics. It is newly made, reliable, and is not collectible. Also...... https://www.midwayusa.com/250-savage/br?cid=9359 |

Did Model 71s with the bolt peep have a dovetail in the barrel for a leaf sight?
|
All that I've seen had a filler "blank" in the barrel dovetail slot.
|
Bill, look at the photo of my 71 with a bolt peep and you can see the filler blank, they all had a dovetail cut in the barrel for a rear sight. The photo is on pages 1 of this thread.
