The Double Gun Journal is first class all the way. I have ordered a lot of their books and DVD's and it is all great. Wild River Press is another great company

It is well-worth the price. I'm also going to order the trade edition as a "loaner"..

Dean, you're a better man than I, or at least a braver one. I normally don't loan ANY of my books, let alone one that costs me over a hundred bucks .

I only loan my books to trusted friends.

I learned my lesson years ago when I loaned a book that I had borrowed from a good friend.
The book never came back and I spent years trying to find an exact replacement of "Death of a River Keeper" by Ernie Schweibert... signed by Schweibert. The book had been a favorite of my friend's and in the meantime I gave him an unsigned copy but I knew it wasn't good enough. So, my search began and it was an expensive search.

I guess you just have better friends than I. I've been trying to compile my list and so far so one's on it......

Just received my copy today; haven't had time to do much more than look it over, but it's certainly another first-class offering from the folks at DGJ. For what it's worth, it gets my recommendation!

I'm about 1/3 of the way into it.

I am blown away by the knowledge of both Austin S. and Austin W. - just incredible!

For those who thought they might get a copy but haven't yet... Daniel tells me he still has some and can fill your orders so you'll have it for some fine reading by the fire this winter.

I know the feeling . My grouse hunting partner thirty years ago wanted to borrow my signed and dated copy of George Bird Evans dog training book . And I’ve never seen it again .

Fly fishing and shotgunning are my only truly necessary "mental food groups"; pretty much everything else in life is a side show for me....

Dean Romig 10-16-2019 08:49 AM

There are still some trade copies of "Austin S. Hogan, Fly Tyer and First Curator of the American Museum of Fly Fishing" available from the publisher, Double Gun Journal.
