I'm no expert at spotting this stuff, but IMO it looks like the forend has been redone, the finish was quite a bit shiner and newer looking than the stock. Receiver and barrels both look original to me.

Gun is advertised as having NO SAFETY, but the safety is there and slides back and forth, but apparently does nothing.

The middle position should be 'safe' while pushing it forward or backward from the safe position will determine which barrel fires first.

If that is a double trigger gun the Ithaca three position safety works like this. In the "center" position the gun is on "safe". In the forward position the gun will "fire" and the safety will return to the middle or "safe" position when you open and cock it. If the safety is put in the rear position and fired the "automatic safety", that is the safety returning to the middle position is disabled and it stays off "safe" when cocked and will fire until you manually put the safety in the middle position again.

Here is a page from Dewey Vicknair's web log. He repaired a stock that had been 'repaired' in the past. It can be done. Good Luck!

Very nicely done. - That's exactly how David Trevallion repaired Charlie Herzog's "Chicken Coop Gun", a very pretty Grade 3 Parker featured in the Spring 2016 Issue of Parker Pages.

Possible that they just don't know how it works then.

My 1912 Flues 16 gauge has this three position safety. Perhaps this safety has been disabled.
