I doubt the guy on the left would be stomping much cover in those tweed trousers and lace-ups! Contrived or not though, it's a cool picture.

He may be putting the Parker together before the hunt but the dogs seem to calm.

I think he is taking the gun down to put it in the LoM case. Those are Malone wool hunting trousers, very popular well into the 1960s. I shoot skeet with an older gent who wears them during the winter. They were a regular catalog item at either Eddie Bauer or Filson. Is the over/under the other guy has a Remington Model 32 or a Browning Superposed?

I don't like to take issue with Researcher on any matters, but all the Malone trousers I've seen are plain front, un-cuffed, have a slight taper toward the ankles and are cut a bit short to allow for boots/heavy shoes (see below); those in the photo look like pleated and cuffed dress tweeds to me, especially with that break over what appear to be cap-toed lace up oxfords.

Not to start a fashion discussion or anything :).
