8 bores are not legal for any game birds here in Oregon but you could hunt deer or elk with them. I used mine one day shooting feral pigeons, the first shot it doubled on me, can't tell you if I hit the pigeon or not. I may get it out again some day if I can find more pigeons.

Does Oregon now have a complete lead ban in effect.

Charlie I wonder what they considered Goose Shot, the letet states this rather than a shot size and percentage.

As of now no, lead is still legal for hunting in most areas, except for water fowl, but one biologist stated if one California Condor is seen anywhere in Oregon lead for hunting will be banned. Hope they prosper but well south of the California/Oregon border.

phil i think the goose shot would probably be no 2 s or bb shot size..what does anybody else think of the goose shot size..i have some old shell boxes here with the recommened size of shot for that game bird.i tried to find a box with the listed sizes but as always cannot find them...is any body else got a gun listed for geese shooting...did find a box of winchester record 3 1/2 inch 10 ga that was stated not for 40 yard shooting....charlie

I wonder if they're "legal" on an Indian Reservation in the USA .

Destry L. Hoffard 06-05-2017 11:58 AM

Anything is legal on Indian Reservations as they aren't technically the USA. Now I'm sure a Game Warden would disagree, but they can't go there so they aren't in control. That said, would I haul an 8 gauge to one just to try to kill a bird with it? Unlikely

As far as 8 gauge guns go, if you aren't shooting at least 2 1/2 ounces out of one, you're shooting a 10 gauge anyway.

All the old shell boxes say #2 and BB for geese.

We shot some high geese in Scotland with AAA which is essentially buckshot.
