Kevin McCormack relined an 1897 Parker #38 case for me as pictured in the catalog page posted earlier. I believe the pictured catalog may be the 1887 catalog which would cover the era you questioned. It is a full leather trunk case with formed lid. I don't know when the all wood cases were discontinued, but I'm sure they were listed in the 1887 catalog. My leather trunk case, #38, was on the original order with a CH Grade two barrel set.

I've always wondered ,because I've never seen one....but do any of you have a pic of an original Parker trunk case with original parker label ? I would love to see an example

Any original case would be Awesome!
Thanks Guys!!

I've never seen a Parker case with a label of any kind. I have the #38 ordered with my CH, another #38 that was apparently made for an eight gauge. They are known as "shellback" cases because there is room for shells in the lid. I have seen several walnut cases of various configurations, some of which have been pictured on this forum.

If you go through the threads on the picture/photo forum, there are a couple started by Bruce Day that have what I believe to be original cases with both. One of them is a C grade the other I believe is a D...anyway, they are both original cases I believe and neither of them have a parker label of any kind.

The below link has a pick of an old case in it with a label, but I don't know if the label is original or not, you would have to check with Mr. Day.

Here is an original Parker supplied oak & leather trunk case circa 1915. It was ordered with the gun and included cleaning rod and accessories for the DHE 20ga two barrel set. I have never seen what I would consider an original Parker supplied label in a gun case.

I think labels were an English makers habit in those days

The Parker and Fox ones you see today are modern creations

The guys are correct. No original case labels, just ones made to look like they should be original . Original Parker cases did not have labels, not even stamping showing that they were made by Parker. Labels are nice, but fake .

The cases probably didn't have labels because the cases themselves weren't made by Parker Bros. They were purchased by Parker Bros. to fill orders requesting cases, or in the case of higher grades, might have been included with the purchase of the gun.
