Nice hunt Pete:bowdown: Bud and I had a nice hunt off the ledges last Friday, five ducks. Its been a great year compared to the last two.

a great hunt with a great gun...is this big gun a 3 1/2 inch gun...what type of load were you shooting....charlie

2 7/8" gun built in 1893. Not a big load by any means but very effective, 1 1/4 ounce of bismuth #4 pushed along with Green Dot. However Scott and I refer to them as "old" 4's vs. new fours. The old Bismuth cartridge company changed something at one point in time and their #4's got smaller. So that I know the difference in the field I write #3 on the over shot card in a Federal hull or I load them in Remington green hulls so I know it's the larger number #4 pellet.

Big guns are for big birds. Some folks don't seem to understand it....

I had a nice day with the big gun again today. Four shots for two Greenheads, a Hen and a Black. A beautiful day in NH for early January too. Mid forties temperature, partly cloudy, light wind, it don't get much better than that this time of year. River was open, only had to chase one decoy being dragged out by ice. Ate my lunch while waiting for the water to come back so I could go back to the ramp.
