Charlie is correct. From the looks of the Muzzles the barrels look as if there is very little wear if any. Very nice old lifter.

I have some 2 1/2" brass shells on the way from Track of the Wolf. I had been meaning to get some in 12 gauge and this was a good reason. I'll take it easy with 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 drams of black powder with 7/8 oz. of shot.
I also ordered some of RST's Ultra Lite 2 1/2" 3/4oz. 1125fps. shells(which are at 4300psi), again to keep thing on light side. The more I checked out this gun and compared it to my other lifters the "looseness" of a modern plastic shells doesn't seem too out of the ordinary. I think when I first saw the barrels I assumed they had been drastically polished/honed out, but I don't think that is the case any more. |
If that was mine (and of course it isn't) I would probable stick with the Bp and enjoy it for what it is.

Wayne, I am on the fence on this and appreciate the advice. I thought the very low pressure shells from RST would be okay and thought the pressure, while different, might even be lower than black powder loads. The brass shells fit better than plastic so I know that is also a factor.
It must be a sign of my Parker collecting evolution…this is the first gun that I have thought “I don’t need to shoot this to enjoy it” Thanks, Jay |
