The gun is a real restoration prospect - blued Frame and custom stocks. It has good barrels. If someone is willing to invest the time and effort to do a Turnbull restore they will have a hell of a rare gun.

My 2 frame 30" 20ga Prince of Wales grip has 3" chambers. 1000 Serial numbers before the Widgeon guns. Note they were sporting men and it was not sport to shoot ducks anymore with big bores.

At the time the Widgeon Duck Club guns were ordered, there was much media talk of small bores for the true expert sportsman and of course the manufacturers joined in touting supposed benefits. For the wealthy sportsman in a wealthy club, it became a status symbol demonstrating his expertise. Of course a 10 gauge would have produced more waterfowl, that was not the point. Same with any kind of status symbol.

Supposedly the Widgeon club had an abundance of ducks so using a modern (circa 1915) big bore was considered unsporting to the sportsman of the day. So the evolution of the big boomer small bore (3" 20 ga).
