Depends a lot on the cover as well - in light to unobstructed situations (e.g. shooting quail in fields or dove shooting) the 28" length I find preferable. In very dense cover such as usually encountered in grouse & woodcock hunting, I notice the need to "clear" the extra length of barrel around brush vs. not having to do so with 26" barrels.

In my experience, the number of times the extra 2" interferes with my shot is less than once a season. I shoot longer barrels better, and I suspect that at the end of the season, I'll have more birds in the freezer with the longer barrels

This crazy old guy would buy 32" barrels if they were available. I like longer barrels.
(I have a VH 12 gauge with 32" barrels that I shoot better than everything else)
A 32" 28 gauge with Briley chokes.........a dream for old men.

Indeed; one of our former table "acquaintances" at our local Chantilly VA show rooted out and scored a Parker Repro 12 ga. 32" Steel Shot Special with screw chokes from one of our "unusual suspect" dealers a couple of years ago. The gun was later verified as a special order from Parker Repro in the heyday of production - one rare bird!

Kevin, don't give out any more information on our friend's gun. I have my checkbook ready when he returns to the "sane" world. It is quite a Repro.

Quick Kevin, fill us in with all the details before Murphy can get his mitts on it. :);)

Just so one of you gets it......I have my old 32" VH.

I don't think Dean-o agrees with me.
