I have the sunflowers planted. There are sufficient feedlots around, that there are always good bird numbers. The quail have had a good wet spring, and the hatches look good.
Also, (not a shotgun thing) but we have a bumper-crop of cottontail rabbits. Gun of choice is a (1950s era) Mossberg bolt action, with CCI CB Longs. Pan fried cottontail, lightly breaded. BTW, the Parker Pages mag was not staged for this post. Shot was taken last winter, PP Mag just happened to have been the mag I was reading at breakfast.

I will not be down at Hondo as a group of us from the Dallas Woods and Waters Club will be shooting doves at Texas Best Outfitters just west of Haskell again this year. They report plenty of rain and birds, so I am really looking forward to it. Good luck with your hunt. |
