Wow- 3 inch 28 gauge!!! Just like the old/original 28 gauge shells I have seen.

But find a gun that's marked that way and we will have something to discuss.

Although the 28” barrels are chambered for 3” shells..it is a bit frustrating that steel is a no-no through the tight chokes that the 28” barrels generally posses considering that is one of the primary occasions for 3" shells :vconfused:

28” - 20ga factory chokes other than M/F appear to be very rare - don't think I've ever happened upon anything other in fact..

With the chrome-moly barrel steel coupled with the chrome lined barrels of the Repros, I wonder if that would hold true on these barrels?

Oops..my mistake having not caught what you said in full Dean..Chrome-Moly..has it been confirmed that the barrels are made out of a particular material..4130/4140 as opposed to low carbon steel?

Would that make a difference with respect to bridging and the concern of barrel distortion?

..of course the gripe about the use of steel shot etc. is a 2016 complaint and we certainly cannot whine to much about the lack of forward thinking in the 80's, but it's still annoying :cuss:

Just checked my 20 gauge 2 barrel set. The 26" barrel is 2 3/4" and the 28" barrel is 3". Serial number is DHE 00565.

From the introduction of the 28-gauge in North America to WW-II the "standard" 28-gauge paper shell was 2 1/2 inch with a load of 1 3/4 drams of bulk powder pushing 5/8 ounce of shot. The only longer length 28-gauge paper hull offered was 2 7/8 inch. From time to time the companies offered the 2 7/8 inch hull loaded with 2 drams of powder pushing that same 5/8 ounce of shot. In 1932 the progressive burning smokeless powder high velocity 28-gauge loads with 3/4 ounce of shot came out and all the manufacturers put that load up in the 2 7/8 inch shell.

The 2 3/4 inch 28-gauge shell we know began appearing just before WW-II in skeet loads and after the War became the standard for all 28-gauge loads.

Maybe Parker Repro was just ahead of their time --

My 20 gauge Repro's 28" barrels came from the factory with IC/Full chokes. Second set are 26" Q1/Q2.

I know of a few 20-gauge 28" that are factory choked Q1/Q2 I own a 20/16 set that both are 28" Q1/Q2.....(-: They are scarce indeed. SXS Ohio

And if anyone would have those rare repro specs, it would be Kenny.
