That wood looks more like Grade 3 Circassian Walnut than the usual American Black Walnut used on the Grade 2 guns. A really nice feature on that gun which separates it from the run-of-the-mill Grade 2 guns.

It is not too uncommon to find Circassian walnut on earlier GH grade guns from the 1880s and 1890s. But for this one to have it and being made well after 1900 is a bit different.

Chris the barrels are 30", the gun has a bit of weight to it in hand. I have not put it on a scale Yet.
Dean/Brian the blank is a bit one sided, the picture is of the better side for sure. |
