Originally when he listed this gun he told me it was a #2 frame but he also told me he couldn't get the for end off . When I talked to him today he said they had fixed/replaced the spring that caused the problem and yes it was a #3 .

then something is odd - he told me the serial was 911xx

in the book 91110 to 91120 are 12's not 10s except for 91117 - which list as 30 inches, i could not read the serial number in the pics

BTW- he emailed me back in August that it was a 3 frame

I am not putting it down, I looked at it again last week and almost called- i hope you got a good one- you can tell me "told ya so" :rotf:

unless we are talking a different gun- the one I looked at was there first thing this morning but gone after you posted.

He told me the number I looked in the book and whatever the number was there were several together I think maybe ten of them listed as 10 gauge . I was thinking the number was 91,116 but my memory isn't what it once was !

Must have been in the 91,162-91,169 group . Because whatever he told me a couple months ago was correct with the book . Have you seen or heard of many EH guns be it #2 or #3 frame guns that had 28" barrels ?

CraigThompson 09-28-2015 07:34 PM

The one I got or am getting has what appears to be a home made sling swivel in the under rib of the barrels and a hole in the stock where "I assume" a swivel stud pulled out . Also said it had a chip missing from the toe . The fellows in Jersey .

thanks- the right side is not too bad- the engraving did not show in the GI posts and it looked like a piece was missing at the stock head on the right side, those were my questions to him, never got an answer

IF the bores are VG as he said - i think you did good- but I think what you see is what you get- still a deal at that price

I'm thinking I might see if Professor Patton can fix the hole in the stock and try to make it as unnoticeable as possible . But then I might after he does that put a stud of some type back . And if I decide against a stud I'll have to get the holes plugged in the under rib .

I started casing the serial number book a little while ago starting in 1889 looking for 10 gauge guns with 28" or 26" barrels . Before I stopped I found something like 42 of the 28" and 3 of the 26" . I failed to see how many EH guns .

Of the ones I counted I think there was in one place a group of 28" top lever guns something like 10 or 12 in the group .

A #2 frame top lever and a 28" EH would be nice to add . To say nothing of a #4 Grade 2 top lever !
