This evening our dove shootin' group is getting together for a feast. We all pool our birds and then get together to bs and pig out.

Dove breast marinated in Italian dressing, wrapped with bacon, and grilled
Lake trout that was caught in the NY Finger Lakes yesterday - grilled with lemon and butter
Fresh picked sweet corn
Salad with vine ripe tomatos

Roasted Okra is really slimy/slippery. A friend from the deep south told a story about his mom, who offered a bushel of okra to their hired hand, who said "No thanks, Mam, - I don't eat nothin' what won't won't for bread."

OMG it all looks so good! As a side question do you just grill the peach on the grill or broiler?
I was raised in the Deleware Valley and miss having a bushel or peck at arms length. I love living in Vermont now but my fellow Vermonters just don't get it about peaches.

I take a small cast iron skillet and melt butter in it. Dunk the sliced peach peach in the butter and place on a medium low grill. After you get the grill marks you want turn it over and pour the rest of the melted butter in the cavity and add a little less than a tablespoon of brown sugar and grill for about another four minutes.

Yummy - thanks!
