I saw several non venomous snakes, but no venomous ones. It would have suited me fine for the moccasins to be on the threatened list instead of diamondbacks.

I have spent a good bit of time exploring and scouting that area this year. It really is vast and I have not seen half of it. The longleaf pine restoration project they have going on is really promising. Not sure I will be around in 40 years to see it come to fruition, but hopefully my boys will be.

It is tough hunting though. Looking for turkeys is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Still fun.

One more hunt

My oldest son and I went on one more hunt. Hot. Saw two big gobblers crossing the road while riding around, but no luck otherwise

Tough sell, Mills. Think I'll stick with a nice tract of New England hardwoods.
"Gators, snakes and skeeters.....oh my!"

Nice looking slates, my instrument of choice. I've been playing with a big boy who has earned the moniker, in these here parts, of "Hugh Hefner." I kid you not, the last time we met he was wearing a bathrobe, ascot and smoking a pipe. Unfortunately, he also had Miss February, March and April tucked by his side. When the sun hits this bird he looks like a black Fiat! Friday morning there will be a new Playmate in town:
"Miss May".....14 1/2---1 1/2----2 1/2. More news at 11. :corn:

Gators and snakes are an occupational hazard down here. As for skeeters, you just have to wear enough bug spray
