Wayne you could try testing the 58 cal mini balls
I have seen the hollow base filled with wax for loading in cartridges so you get a fully compressed load . Couldn't you carry the cartridges with the pins removed and just insert them when you are in position to fire ? Not ideal for shooting high volume game I know .

Crag I don't have an original case for the gun. Milton sorry your idea of inserting a pin wont work. If you look them up you will understand. My bore measures exactly .577 so I may not nee to use a mini ball. You do not need to use wax in the base of a mini they work just fine with out it.

never thought about how easy it would be set one of these pin fire shells off if being toted in a pocket or satchal...guess you would need to fix something to carry loaded shells safely...charlie

Yea its a little bomb. I put the 16ga in a twelve ga box and alternated each row so that there is room for the firing pins to face down. the first row will be firing pin up second row shells reversed and pins down. I just would not recommend dropping any thing. May be why pin fire system did not last long.

So if you're out hunting lets say how do you carry this thing loaded in a safe fashion ?

Seems to me to be ready you'll need to walk around with the hammers cocked and I am assuming this thing doesn't have a safety as such .

The hammers have a half cock on them. They are as safe as any muzzle loader as long as you don't drop the shell and hit the firing.pin. Finding a way of carrying them is the problem.

Finally able to post some pis's of the ammunition for this cape gun. Have test fired for function yesterday and hopefully I can test fire for accuracy this weekend. This is a very time consuming project. WARNING THIS IS DANGEROUS. Not for the faint of heart.

Be-leave it or not the rifle load kicks like an old mule. It whacked my finger pretty good the first time I fired it.
