Jack, how did that lab puppy come along? I'll bet with such an early start he was an eager participant for the rest of his life

Jack Cronkhite 02-09-2010 10:55 AM

She turned out well. She finds, sometimes holds, sometimes flushes and when shot pattern and bird actually meet, she finds, marks, picks it up and then looks back at me and drops it and wants to carry on hunting. The husky blood seems to have diluted the retriever part but no big deal as I am quite pleased to have had every downed bird found in deep cover that without dog the probability of loss is fairly high. She did at least 3 of those for me. She broke and ran a few times after a running bird and I had to explain that my old legs didn't appreciate a long hike to end like that. She listens intently but not sure she really understands english. All in all, for a less than one year pup in the field, I was quite pleased. She is also a fun dog to just have around, which will be good, as it is a long time between seasons.

Cheers,
Jack

This restored PH on Gunbroker looks to be a better deal.

Barrington, NH?..... Somebody you know Pete?

Pete Lester 02-09-2010 04:45 PM

Dean it's someone you know too.

$1800 now and NO Reserve-- wow

Yes sir, when one good deal goes away, maybe just maybe- Pete- here's my read, and as I have "blown my gun stash cash for a good long while- the PH 16 and then the M21 16-- I am "out of the play" here- I like the 37/37 all positives on this seller's feedback- and a 12 redone by DelGrego (not Del Graco) with the provenance and on a No. 1 frame with 28" barrels- straight hand grip and DT-- wow!

I recall the late Ray P. Holland like a 12 light double with 28" barrels, right tube open and the left tube near full-good choice indeed. Good fotos and a fine looking Parker indeed- good luck should you decide to bid--:bigbye:

Well I saw an opportunity to make a plug for a friend and member of this board and it's a nice gun. It certainly looks to be a better deal than the PHE that started this thread.

Very nice. Never shot the beavertail forend on anything so that always seems a strange look to me. Will be interesting to see where this gets to. Noted it closes on Valentine's Day so those of you who have a kind wife, might want to drop some obvious hints here. I did but just got a smile. Better than an outright laugh in your face reaction though :) I also note that the 37/37 seems to be as a buyer but I imagine there must be some sales involved.

Question: Is the buttstock end checkering a typical factory pattern or is it just what it is??

Thanks,
Jack

Pete Lester 02-09-2010 05:11 PM

I'll vouch for the honesty of the seller 100%. The gun has the look and feel of a skeet gun and I love shooting my skeet gun with the BTFE. As far as the checkering pattern goes I'll let the experts comment.

Francis Morin 02-09-2010 05:39 PM

Good feedback indeed

Pete- you endorsement of the sellers speaks volumes- Jack's observation is also "spot on" as I just went for the 37/37 and didn't see that was all purchases- Howsome-ever, as my GrandDad used to say- if you can trust a man to handle small details honestly- he's usually gonna be OK with the larger stuff- so this gentleman is a prompt payer when he buys on this (and maybe other) websites- that's to his credit--

I think the straight grip with two triggers and the smallish field style b'tail look very stylish- like Ingrid Bergman did in "Casablanca"-- however, some beavertail forearms (mainly on LC Smiths) look about as stylish as Dolly Parton in a Victoria's Secret commercial-- IMO:duck:
