The shortage/non existence of 22 LR is real, it has gone on for most of the year and as far as I can see it persists for whatever the reason(s), and they are not good for sportsmen.

None of my usual distributers have been able to get us ANY 22LR blam blam ammo .

I can however get the higher priced quality target 22LR ammo . But the stuff I can get is all dealer cost over $100 a brick and was those prices before "the fit hit the shan" !

FWIW I was at a gun auction last friday night and they sold some ammo after the guns !

They had lots of 22LR 2800 , 2500 , 2450 each of these sold in excess of $300 . They also had two bricks of Remington Thunderbolts that went for $130 !!!!!!!!

I can't remember Pete why I thought it was supposed to represent production during the shortage but that's my impression. It's a very cool video that shows the process from A to Z of making .22's and the final product stacked on 4ft square pallets. Very informative regardless of timing. Can't remember if they interviewed someone during it. I can tell you it's pretty automated and they really crank them out. It's easy to find through Google.

Don't know about 22's, but the only powder shortage I've seen is 700X and one of the Clay's powders. I just received a order at my club and we got just about everything we wanted in the shotgun venue.

I always stop and look in the Walmart's for .22's. I got lucky Monday while out of town. 100 CCI Mini Mag HP's @ $7.49. They only let me purchase three of the five boxes they had. I asked the girl if they had ever had a shortage. She said not really, that the same fellows come in each week and buy it all as it is put out.

Rick,

I didn't squander my youth on education or family. Until the time I married 32 years ago at age 33 you would have been spot on.

The last delivery we got from our supplier included Thunderbolts for $21.00 per 500 if I recall. I bought 1500, because it is not my favorite, but I guess I should have bought more. Federal Top Guns were $56.50 a flat. Remember, Top Guns are now available in 12 gauge 7/8 ounce 1200 fps, a very friendly load.

Bill, I can't reload for that price.

I buy from Dawsons and load 3/4oz loads for $3.34/box. The 7/8oz loads would cost me $3.66/box. You have to buy in quantity for a discount. The 22s are being sold for $22/500 at a local hardware store.
