Maybe not as unusual as I thought! Tom, that is definitely a unique pair of GHE's, how did you happen upon the second one?

Bill Murphy 10-09-2013 09:46 PM

My 24" 16 Damascus GHE was unusual enough until the seller contacted me a couple years into my ownership and told me he had found the 28" and 30" barrels and forends that had become separated from the gun. There are some neat G Grades out there.

Bill Murphy, lost Parker barrel whisper-er!

Tom Pollock 10-09-2013 09:58 PM

Believe it or not, Chris, I stumbled on the second at a local gun show, not 10 miles from home. I thought it was a connector to the one I had at home (not many GHE 24" guns to start with), but wasn't 100% sure. I drove home 100 mph to check and sure enough... so I drove back 150 mph, picked up a friend on the way to make sure my eyes were screwed in right, and brokered the deal. Both guns were bought 10 years apart and both within 40 miles of my house. It'll probably never, ever happen again, but it sure is fun to look!

Three of my "reunited" lost barrels to guns were either started or completed at gun shows including the three barrel set and two two barrel sets. Another reunited barrel to gun was found for me by Gary Carmichael at a gun show. He placed the barrels on the lost and found subforum and I found them there. That is six sets of barrels found at gun shows to complete four guns.

Bill you should be playing the lottery instead of playing with a pile of rusty pipes.

The gun shows where I found barrels to reunite were the Maryland Antique Arms Association Show at Baltimore, the Pennsylvania Gun Collectors Show at Monroeville, and the old Preston Jones Show, also at Baltimore. The last two were found in kegs of barrels filled with rusty surplus barrels. Gary found the barrels for the fourth gun at the Greensboro, NC show. I had bought that gun without barrels from PGCA board member John Davis who lives in Georgia. He took the Titanic Barrels off that gun for a second set for his BH gun and let the forend go with the barrels. The barrels that he had were later replacement barrels for the DH. The barrels that Gary sold to me were the original Damascus barrels for the DH that had been separated from the gun since the Titanics were installed. I will find out when that was done, maybe, when I get a PGCA letter. In the next couple of years, I may have another story to tell, if I'm lucky.

Unique GHE

5 Attachment(s)
This is my Unique GHE 12 gauge. It has single trigger, ejectors and two sets of Vent Rib barrels each with it's own Beavertail forend!
Barrels are 26 inch (Mod)+(FULL) and 30 inch (FULL)+(FULL)

The stock has field dimensions, the gun was made in 1928 no letter available.
I do not think there were many two barrel vent rib sets in any grade.

Really, really nice Scott. They certainly are unique and the G's are becoming my favorite grade. Enjoy!
