Paul could you look at the Gunbroker Auction #358829198 a grade 2 hammer gun and tell me if the barrels are Chain or Etoile Damascus. Is there a place on this site to look at different patterns so one can identify them? Are there any pluses or minuses of these two varieties of Damascus steel? Thanks.

That's your standard pattern damascus - but that guns looks to me to be worth more than what's bid now. If I were looking for a gun like that I'd go up to 2 grand. There are only so many Parkers to go around.

Thanks for the info on the barrel steel Paul. I agree on the gun. What great original condition for a gun that's 130 years old. I see so many ragged out old hammer guns that are about used up. I guess it had such great care because of its grade.
