On the right side, it almost looks like a banner is there. Or am I seeing things?

Dean Romig 07-11-2013 09:29 PM

I agree Brian, it looks as if the "Parker Bros." was gouged out or something on both sides... maybe a "back door" gun??

barrels cut @2" also, but a nice little grouse or close cover gun. Good luck with it. And I agree with Brian and Dean.

Would a "back door" gun be in the book?

Brian Dudley 07-12-2013 03:29 AM

Well it is hard to tell. Right side looks like it has a banner with no name. Left side looks like it has no banner at all. Interesting gun.
On the bottom, does it just have the 4 birds standing? Or is there anything else? I have a O frame 16g DH in the shop now that has a very similar motif of he bottom, but the 4 birds are standing around a tree stump. I found that interesting.

That's hard to say. First we would have to find an authenticated "back door" Parker and then check for factory records on it.

As I recall, Ivory Beads had a Parker a couple of years ago where the engraving was incomplete, suggesting a similar scenario... I wonder if Jim Thynne can comment on that one.

It kinda looks like the land scape is blended into the scroll work.

Dean ,I can't remember the Grade of the gun but I remember the gun also ,and I believe Jim advertised it as such ! Wish he were still in business ,I always enjoyed discussing guns with him and dealing with him !

drops..

brian , there are four birds standing & grass in the foreground..that's all I can make out.
dean , it does look like some kind of filing or sanding , I wouldn't call it gouging because you really can't "feel" anything.
using a small magnifying glass I can make out part of a banner on both sides behind the screws...I think I can make out Bros on the left & P on the right.

Maybe the order books will say "cut barrels off 2" and scratch off banner both sides"
