My guess is that some sellers that are reluctant to provide information cannot do so because they do not have the gun in their possession. They are merely acting as a broker by posting a gun for a fee. Regardless, it is frustrating to potential buyers not to have enough information. I see it all the time. They don't provide the information in their description and then you are forced to look at the pictures to figure it out. More than once the lack of information has kept me from purchasing.

I am like you and have sold many guns. I love them all and love to tell people all about them because I want the new owner to know how special the gun is to me, it's good and bad points. So far only one gun has been returned to me over the years and that was a custom 416 Rigby. I had told the buyer it had a bit of recoil to it and then he returned it saying he couldn't handle the recoil. I could have been a butt head and said no but didn't. My integrity is worth more than the gun value.

Gary ,You may be correct but by GB Rules ,the gun should be in the possession of the seller ,to make positive if the gun sells that it is available ., and Dennis ,I have only had one come back also , it had marks in the bore which the buyer thought were gouges from steel shot ,I honestly had not noticed them and they were very minute' ,I took it back gladly ,relisted it as such ,as I had no idea what caused the marks ,and the next buyer had no problem with it and was as happy as could be ! Alsu on Gunbroker # 353186947, there is a 28ga Reproduction Parker that folks should check very carefully before bidding. I asked one of our PGCA colleagues who lives close to KTP (the seller) to check this repro out for me and the report back was not good. The pictures and description that the seller of this gun does not faithfully nor adequately describe wear and tear on this gun both inside and out. The only think positive about it would be the wood. I did not query KTP about the gun so I don't know whether they would respond and to what extent they would more fully describe the condition of the gun. Maybe I should just to test them. If I do, I'll let you know the results.

I just sent the following message on Gunbroker to KTP regarding the 28 ga repro they have posted. I will post any reply received. There are good folks at KTP and I would be very surprised if they are not forthcoming. A number of us have dealt with them many times over the years with favorable results.

Would you please answer the following questions re: this 28ga Repro: 1. what is the condition of the barrels? inside and out. any rust, pitting, dents? 2. what is the condition of the case colors on frame, fore end latch, trigger guard? any rust?, case colors strong? or not? 3. what is the condition of the wood/finish? Is there any wear to the original finish, dents? chips? etc. Thanking you in advance.

The Parker repro that this thread is about arrived. It is very nice with no issues. Lenth of pull is 14 7/8 just as I thought from how the gun fit the maker case. It was a very good buy. My friend is happy with it...SXS ohio....(-:

I received a reply today from KTP with an apology for the delay due to the person who normally responds to GB inquiries was out of pocket a few days. Here is their reply FYI.

"Thanks for your inquiry about our auction. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have been away for the past 3 days, and the person who usually answers e-mails in my absence was out, too.

As you can see from the pictures the gun is in great shape. No rust, pitting, or dents on or in the barrels. The case coloring is not strong anywhere, but there is no rust, pitting or any marring on the receiver, or other metal parts. There are no cracks or chips in the wood, however there are a few light press marks and scratches. None of these break through the finish, but press the finish into the wood. "

I didn't see the 28 ga repro in hand but perhaps the PGCA colleague who did handle and inspect it might want to comment on the KTP reply.

I would say that this was quite a buy -$3700 for 28" barrels, double triggers, and a long LOP to boot. A very difficult combination to come by. Now that we now know the LOP I sure am glad I did not gamble on it. Way too long for me.
