Bruce,
Can u tell me more about the cap lock targer rifle. Got any more pictures? WHAT A GUN!!! Is it a slug gun or ball gun? ch |
Mr Humburg:
Marked "Franz Nowak in Prag." Nowak was a famous Prague maker whose work has been written about in the DGJ. Its in Van's collection. I don't know if it shoots ball, slug or both. I am not aware that any of these old muzzle loading rifles are exclusive to projectile form. |
Don't know if I should call you Mr. Day or Bruce,
But I'm just Calvin. Weather it's a ball gun or slug gun has to do with barrel twist. Ball Guns shot say 100 yards, with less twist. Slug or bullet guns had more and shot say 1000 yards. ch |
I just opened up this thread and noticed your question about the Nowak rifle. It is a projectile rifle, .50 cal. My father had the gun in his collection and shot a bison with it. I have not shot it because is takes so darn long to clean up the black powder but I made shoot it some time. jvb

I agree 100% on the letter issue. If you feel good about your gun that is really all that matters. But when you hear guys say get a letter, I think where they are going is if you have a letter and it matches, if you go to sell it, it will sell more easily to collectors whom are less confident at a higher dollar. I think confidence being the key word. FWIW. Tim |
