[/ATTACH]I never had a guided grouse hunt so here are two for consideration. They are found on a pre-war Kornbrath engraved Model 21 that was custom made for John Brewster who built bodies for Springfield Rolls Royce. It is a 5lb 11oz 20ga that shoots as good as it looks. It was previously Russ Bickel's gun

That’s some heavy engraving.

Those Kornbrath dogs sure beat the hell out of those Kusmit cartoon dogs often seen on overprice Model 21s.

Russ Bickel was surely our friend.

Outstanding Gunsmith and a True Friend

I met Russ when he opened a small gunshop on Rt 61 outside of Reading, Pa. with Mr. Banser. They had recently graduated from a Gunsmithing school in the Pittsburg area and one of his school projects was converting a Sterlingworth to a 45/70 double rifle. I stopped in and mentioned I liked Fox Guns and that led to a visit the next afternoon. That resulted in a friendship that lasted thru some 120 Ohio Gun Collector Shows and many other adventures over the years. He called me his mentor, and I was privileged to have had him as a friend. He left us way too soon. I also have his 16 bore Purdey Funeral Grade along with other personal items and they are all cherished by me.

I will be forever in awe of his skill and precision. Russ did a couple of Parker jobs for me and the finished product was at least as precisely perfect as the work of the Meriden artisans.

Opps, not a Parker!

I would like to apologize for not properly reading the rules of the game; 'calling all Parker engraved setters'. So let's just enjoy an outstanding set of engraved dogs while remembering our friend Russ Bickel.

No apologies necessary. Finely engraved setters eclipse all brands.

I don't care if there were rules, the engraving on that M21 is outstanding and thank you for sharing it with us. I do miss Russ.
