These Barrels with Ser. No 61503 go to a 10 Ga. and says they are D Grade Barrels but the book says 30 inch and these are 32 inch. They have no markings on the barrels stating if Dam or maybe someone blued them but see no trace of that.If you look you see no markings on barrel flats of weight. Also no space at end of barrels. They are 3 frame.Your comments please. Thomas

Dean: The man that owned the gun was a salesman for Remington and said that the gun was at Remington for several years and he got it from them. Thomas

I have a 3 frame 10 send them to me and I'll tell you what I think ! all Bs aside maybe a backdoor lunchbox gun! The serial number stamp hit me as strange also rib doesnt look right from what we can see, Like Dean said maybe made by someone outside. JMHO

Unless the pictures of the rib matting are just too far out of focus it appears to me that whoever did the rib matting did not use the Parker natting machine. That's why I said they were not made by Parker.

Deffinately not Meriden Parker barrels. Could these have maybe been Remington made barrels? If the guy who owned it was connected to Remington, maybe he was able to obtain a rough barrel set from them and finish them. Maybe they were factory finished after Parker production stopped or finished by someone outside of Remington.
I see they do not have the wear plate on the bolt bite either.
What are you doing with these barrels Thomas?
Interesting...

Brian: They go with the rest of the gun which isn't original either.

Clue number one would be to find out if they are Damascus or fluid steel. We need better pictures of the rear part of the rib and doll's head.

A Parker of that vintage would certainly have been made with Damascus barrels and would have been stamped with a D on the foreward part of the right barrel flat.

As a newbie to the world of Parkers I am curious as to if the barrels are Parker Brothers also. I have read on this forum that barrels have been made in England, Italy and I am sure other countries as well. I think the photos could have been much better and if they are genuine Parker Brothers they certainly must have credible markings which our experts would recognize. Please believe I am not putting you or the gun down but the fact that the set of barrels fit on that Parker shotgun doesn't necessarily mean they were made in Meriden, CT. Could you show photos of the barrel flats, any inscription on the top rib and better photos overall. I hope this is taken as a sincere question and not to be offensive.

Dennis: No offense taken.I just got home from the gun show and snapped a couple more pictures that i hope will be a little clearer.Bill wanted a shot of the dolls head and you wanted barrel flats. I can tell you that there is no inscription on the ribs.Thomas

There was a time when Lefever was rebarrelling composite barrel Parker's. There could be a Remington, DelGrego, Lefever connection. Bill Murphy knows the story behind the Lefever involvement and perhaps knows what a set of barrels they did would look like.

Pete: The dolls head engraving looks a little Lefeverish. Thomas

Every set of Lefever barrels I have seen have a Parker style matting on the rib. The work on these barrels looks pretty nice. A set of well fitted ten gauge fluid steel barrels on an early Parker makes for a pretty nice gun. The lugs look like original Parker. If they are Lefever, they would most likely be sleeved. If not sleeved, they would be Remington Parker barrels if they came from Lefever. I would buy that gun.

I have sent for a letter and will wait and see what that tells me. It is very interesting to say the least. Thomas

That would really be my bet. That they are Remington made Parker barrels that were obtained after Remington was no longer servicing Parker's. And they were matted and engraved by after the fact.

If those barrels had been finished or made by Lefever, they would have had the perfect Parker matting, and probably barrel logo. Up until Bob Lefever left and the business was turned over to a young, non Lefever gunsmith, the business owned and used the original Parker matting machine. After the young manager left (to Utica) taking the matting machine with him. Lawsuits ensued and the Utica business went under. Today, I would not be surprised if the machine lives on in Connecticutt.

Steve: It has been in Idaho for over a Hundred years but you never know where it may end up. I will have to see if I get a turkey permit that I signed up for. I bet that would put a hurtin on him. Thomas
