A friend of mine has a set of 16ga Steel barrels from a 191,xxx VHE. They are "0" frame and 30" long in very nice shape. He asked me what I thought they were worth- I dont keep a close eye on parts prices and was curious for some help for him.
A set of "0" frame 30" barrels has to be a pretty rare item for someone looking to make a 2 barrel set, I would think. I appreciate your thoughts and evaluation. They are in excellent original shape.

They should be posted in lost and found.

Guys- with all due respect, I didn't ask who wanted to buy them, I asked what they might be worth. I don't own them and was asked for an appraisal.

Let's work this one from the other end, shall we?
We can probably all agree that a 16 gauge VHE on the 0-Frame with 30" barrels in "very nice" shape would likely have a value of somewhere in the $3500 range, give or take (maybe more).
An 0-Frame VHE buttstock and frame with forend, also in "very nice" shape but without barrels might be worth $700 or so, again, give or take....
So, lets all do the math and take a shot at what these barrels might be worth.
My estimates might be off a bit but this should give an idea of how to value a set of very nice barrels.

I am not sure what you are implying, Dean.
You are not implying that the math is linear? Are you?
3500-750= 2750?
No way
Barrels without anyplace to go are not worth that much.
I think that the synergistic effect of BOTH get you to 3500.

I'm never hesitant to venture my guess. $1000 to $1200 and I would pay $900.

I think they are worth more to someone with a special gun with a set of barrels that are blown or out of proof, than someone looking to make a two barrel set. I don't think $2000 is unreasonable to the right person. A nice set of 32" 12 ga barrels just sold here for $2800 w/ complete beaver tail forend. My guess would be $2000-$2500.

No George, that's not what I'm implying - but, the value of any Parker is supported by the condition (or existence) of its barrels.

I'm not so sure you're absolutely right. The value of given set of barrels (for whatever reason someone wants them) is what the buyer and seller agree on. And I think you'll agree that this is a pretty special set of barrels.

What would a new set of barrels for a Parker cost IF one could guy them? Probably about $3000! So how much are a set of original and rare or at least scarce barrels worth? A good deal more than a thousand.

Those 12 ga bbl that were sold for $2800 had a BTF attached to them. I have seen the forarm with the iron go for 800-1000 bucks that makes the bbls worth 1800-2000.

They are worth what someone is willing to pay for them.
Barrels in that configuration will command a high price for someone looking for such.
Another way to look at this is the following:
What would it cost to have a set made? The closest we can get is to have a set monblocked/ sleeved. The minimum cost for that is $1800 not including taxes, shipping, cost of original monoblock, etc.
IMO: $2200 to 3000 is the range.
Josh hope this helps.

That makes the bbls worth 1800-2000.
I disagree. A really nice set of 32" Titanic ejector barrels are worth a sight more than you suggest... you just got a terrific deal, that's all.

I talked to Josh about them I am looking for a set of 1frame 28 or 30" so these will not work for me! that said I believe the barrels in excellent shape 1200-1500 run of the mill 900-1100. but again it's how bad the buyer wants them. Seems to me they are quite a few 0 frames around don't think they are rare, but it seems that every advertisement I see for them states how rare they are, just my thoughts. Gary

Dean I don't know what deal you refer to as I haven't bought a set of "extra" barrels. I agree with Gary in I don't think there that hard to come by, you could buy a gun and part it out for the barrels and sell off the rest and reduce the net barrel cost. Now if these were damascuss barrels then that would be a different story esp with ejectors!

This discussion has turned into a dog chasing its tail that needs a "boot up" on its electric collar! Depending on condition, condition and condition, $1200-1500. Otherwise, what have you really got?
