Damascus 12ga, estimates?

Hi all. Hopefully, these pictures upload. I am worried they might be too large-- if so I will go back to drawing board to upload.

This is a Damascus 12ga, hammer gun #38388. I am trying to get an idea of
fair market value as I might sell it. Any insight would be great.

Looks like a nice Grade 2, and I like those hammers. Could we see the barrels?
I'd have to guess and say it's worth at least $2500.

I would be happy to take pictures of the barrels. This is my first time doing this. What angle is wanted? How close-up? They get long enough that is is tougher. I don't think i posted these two photos-- maybe they help. But, I can take more pictures tonight.

The 2nd photo makes them appear to be steel rather than damascus. Could you take one of the barrels flats showing the stamping, on both flats and the bottom of the rear lug (frame size).

That is a very nice gun in great condition! The barrels do appear like they have been blued at some time. I do see in one photo that the damascus pattern is visable. And any hammer gun of that vintage would have composite barrels.
Given the condition and that it is a trap gun, the value in the current market would be surely $1,500 - $2,000. Maybe more.
This is a gun that could benefit from barrel finish restoration.

How are the bores in the gun? Clean?

Please contact PGCA Member George Purtill. He is composing a research article on the Folsom Trap guns. Yours could be the nicest one we know of (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) as these guns were shot a lot in live pigeon shoots. We would like to use photos of yours in the article.

I am surprised that this gun carries a trap butt plate with it being a 1 frame. It looks original to me. Very rare in this frame size and condition, and a grade 2. The barrels being blued will hold it back a little, my guess is 2,000.00 or more. Very nice. Dave

now that you have taken the pictures, a next step would be to list it on the gunbroker.com auction site with a high reserve and see what the market says...i have been buying and selling on gunbroker for over 10 years. i have found their service to be excellent for determining the true value of rare and uncommon guns such as yours.
