I was in a rural gunshop east of Denver yesterday and the guy had a very nice LC Smith double he was restoring. Model 3E he said. Ejector side lock hammerless gun w/ Fulton marked steel bbls cut to 29.5" unfortunately, but with at least a little choke left. The side plate engraving was very nice with birds and such. Someone with little gunsmithing skill had butchered it up at some levels. A mid bead is in crooked. The safety mechanism has been completely altered from what I could tell, with the top tang being shortened I think. The bbl hook had 4 large holes drilled through it to lighten it. Worst was that they filed the sides of the front of the receiver down about .150" to lighten it, and not a good job of it either. What a shame. Such a nice gun. The LC guys would be in tears looking at it. I have no pictures.
