I am replacing a top lever spring (V type). I understand that the Parker top lever V type spring is fairly universal across gauges/frame size. Is this correct? I assuming that it will need some final fitting. Has anyone fit a new to lever V spring?
Thanks,
Guy

Guy - Do you have a top lever spring in hand? If you got it from Galazan it will require fitting. Some have had good luck with the springs from Dixie Gunworks, but I found them too short. I use a dremel tool for grinding the leaves and have had no problems. It's about a 2 hour job. As far as I know the springs are the same size across the gauges, with the possible exception of the 28 or .410.

Ed,
Thanks. I don't have a spring yet but saw some on Numrich.

The top lever springs came in three sizes. One for the hammer guns and two for the hammerless plus they changed from leaf to coil spring making four. I order both the hammer and hammerless springs from Dixie Gun Works. They are so cheap, about $5.00 ea, I order several. Recently I replaced a toplever spring for a friend and after I had groud down the hammerless spring and was fitting it to te Parker it turned out to be a fraction to short as Ed indicated. I took the hammergun top lever spring (it is much longer) and fitted it. Like Ed, I use a Dremel Tool to copy the broken spring so don't discard the old one.
