attached is a picture of a 1906 vintage jp sauer.
also attached, is a picture of a 1915 vintage fox sterlingworth.
looks like ole ah knew a good thing when he saw it...and just copied it!

I would be willing to test fire both of them and give you my opinion on weather they are the same. Just lead me to the quail field.:bigbye:

OK Ed -I agreed on the Philadelphia Gun Co Fox design vs the Parker :)
but the Sauer Vs Fox looks to be more like a coincidence. Even if you take the intercepting sears out of the mix. The contours are different and within the limitations of the A&D box - if you want to lighten and countour the outside - there you go.
I could see grabing the Philadelphia Gun Co Fox instead of a VH if they were in the same safe in dim light
but my Sauer often sits with Foxes in the safe and I have never made that mistake.
BUT - nice comparisons - keep them coming :corn:

can not say how much these guns look alike but i knoy i like a lot of guns that SAUER built..keep up the good work ed.... charlie

jp sauer started making box lock guns around 1890.
ah fox started making box lock guns around 1900.
both made fine shotguns.

Well, I've got to agree with you. Those two guns, the Fox and the Sauer sure look alike, right down to the opening lever. It is uncanny.
My Fox, it is a 1929 gun:
