I decided to post my other recent acquisition. This Parker is serial #215214 making it a 1925 by your charts. Grade is PH. Gun is in pretty amazing condition. stocks still retain a high gloss with minor abrasions. No splits or cracks in wood. the Barrel is 30" Parker steel. Bluing is very good with sever small patches on previous rust. There is an ivory bead on end of barrel and a second one about 14" from end of barrel. Bore is bright and shiny. It has all matching serial numbers and original butt plate and grip cap. I find these selling cheaply on GunBroker but all I see have Damascus barrels. This one has the Parker steel. Does that make a big difference in the value? I had thought this shotgun would be worth in excess of $1500 perhaps considerably higher. Am I barking up the wrong tree no value? Thanks...

A PH with Steel barrels is surely more valuable than the typical Trist barreled PH. They did not make too many PH guns with steel barrels since the PH grade was dropped not to long after steel barrels were being used on them. A bit hard to tell on condition by way of details from the few pictures, but it looks like a nice gun. I would question if the finish on the wood is original since it is so glossy.

Thanks for the prompt comments. Gun is very nice. I am such a novice on Parkers that I was not sure whether the glossy stock was original finish or not. Sounds like not. I suppose many of these guns have been refinished over the years. How badly would that hurt desirability?

Wouldn't hurt it much. This is a nice gun depending on the next bunch of pictures you send us.

I suspect that the finish may not be as glossy as it looks. Might just be the lighting. As long as it is an oil finish on it, the value would not be effected much. If it is finished with Urithane, it would be more of a detractor.
Either way... it looks like you might have a lot of nice Color left in the metal. More pics please if you want.

I stand by my comment. It's a nice gun. Congratulations.

Thanks for the input guys. Finish on the stock is really nice but does have a gloss to it. The walnut stock grain has a burl look which I guess was an upgrade wood to the grade. Showing a few more photos.

Yes... Very nice gun. Great screws and patina. I do see that the checkering boder on the forend is not the correct mullered type.

Thanks B.Dudley. Not sure what incorrect checkering on for end indicates. Does this mean the forend wood is not original to the gun? serial number on forend matches receiver and barrel. Would anyone have any idea as to value?

The wood itself will also have the serial number marked on it. Under the guard bow on the buttstock and under the iron at the face of the forend wood.

Between the checkering and the level of gloss in the finish, it means either refinished wood or replaced wood. My guess would be refinished.

The figure in the wood is very nice. Not all PH grade guns have such nice wood. But some do.

Your estimate of $1,500 range may not be far off the mark.
