today i shot and patterened some 2 7/8 inch 10 ga buckshot loads..the loads were 1 1/4 ounce of 00 buck pushed by 35 grains of bluedot...target was at 40 steps target a 30 inch cardboard circle..gun used a parker ph grade 10 ga 32 inch barrels..results was all 9 pellets were put into the circle with the right barrel. the left barrel also put all 9 pellets in the circle...recoil was very pleasant. both barrels on gun werefull choke and it is a twist steel barrel gun...this is my own opinion but i think this load will safely and cleanly take a deer out to 45 yards..i have taken 3 deer with similar loads with this gun... charlie

Charlie: I have never shot a deer with buckshot and was curious if you damage a lot of meat.I have always tried to make a clean shot with a rifle and if possible I try to get a neck shot. Of course I'm talking a deer that is standing still.Thomas

does not do a lot of damage to meat..buckshot will not expand and do not have near the energy in just one hole as a rifle does...and most deer will run a few yards up to a hundred plus yards shot with buckshot..noy deer shot at close range 15 to 25 yards usally drop in their tracks.. i too use a rifle to hunt but the old parker with buckshot is more fun...gonna work up some slugs load soon.... charlie
