WOW!! I see two Parkers but I can't even hazard a guess on the others.

A lovely collection nontheless.

I'm sure Bill is correct on the Perazzi's, Parker's, and Daly's and with his knowledge of trap guns would guess he's correct on the others as well.

Well, so far, Bill is very close with 6 of 8 correct and george is correct on all but forgot to state the model :) I will tell you tonight if no one gets it. Thanks, Frank

They are wonderful guns, and I won't change my guesses even though two are incorrect. I think I am wrong on one of the Perazzis (the one on the left, maybe it's a Fabbri) and I am probably wrong on one of the Dalys. I have not dug out my one Daly single to compare. Wow, what great singles.

I'd take the Ithaca Sousa if given my choice....

Hey Bill I think you are mostly right, isn't the third gun from the right a Smith?? and one is an English single, I think!! Rest look about right. Opps, I meant from the left. I guess mom, my sweetheart of some 49 years is right about me.

Bill Murphy

I'm just waiting for the correct answers from the owner. I'm stumped. I hope I'm not wrong on the Dalys because I want to see pictures of two of them.

Ok, now I will tell you what they are and if you would like some more pics, I will see if I can get some time to do that. I am also setting up a new row for you to guess on over the next day or so. Bill, you sir, amazed me with your picks. I thought for sure no one would get the Fox SBT K grade but you nailed it As for the rest, you are right about the Daly Lindners. First one is an empire grade and the second one is a diamond grade. You were also correct on the Sousa and the two Parker SBT SC grade. One newer and one alittle bit older. The ones you miss are the second and third from the left. They are Leo Specials from Browning. The first is number #004 BT-99 and the second one is also a Leo Special # 036 BT-100. These were made for a very short time for a special Browning dealer. They have very nice engraving and drop dead wood. Bill, if you are going to the fall s x s, I would like to buy you dinner. you do know your guns and we will see if you can get 6 of 8 on the next group. Thanks again, Frank

Frank, it was great to meet you, however briefly, at the Fall Southern. Sorry our dinner plans got sidetracked. (Linda and I had our dinner in hand when Frank introduced himself.) What about that next group of trap guns you were going to picture? Don't picture any more Japanese guns. Neither AHFoxman or I are much good at identifying them.

I did enjoy the little talk we had. We must meet up at the spring side by side and take you and the wife to dinner. Now that I have a little time before Christmas, I will see if I can get the next group together and see how you do. There will be no Japan guns but they are not all American guns either. I will see if I can get it done soon so people over the holidays can try and figure them out. Thanks again, Frank

Yeah, your right Bill, no gold star for that performance. BTW, the CSMC diamond grips are more pronounced than the originals, but both feel really good in my hand. Merry Christmas to All!

Well, here is the next rack of guns for Bill. I took it easy on him with only one gun that will not be easy. I already owe him a dinner so I might as well do two. if you need better pics, please let me know.Frank

One Parker, 5 Ithaca's, A Francotte(?), and a Baker (?) Wow, I have been out of touch for far too long! Heading for the scent free shower, still a whopper buck surviving here. Not sure how that happens here in Eastern Pa.???, must be a pretty smart slapper. I saw him the last two years and this is his best, with two drop tines, one down over each ear. He'll make somewhere around 155 give or take. Well, at least I do use a Parker Cyclone crossbow, can't pull a regular one anymore. All the Best to everyone during the New Year!

The "Francotte" may be a Francotte, but my Francotte Grade 11 has a Deeley forend release, where the pictured gun probably has an Anson release. I am stumped unless it is a British gun.

FRANK HALSEY
01-02-2013, 02:25 PM
Bill, can you tell me what the others are in order? I will take up close pics of the one that has you "stumped". And yes, it is a British gun. One of 57 ever made. Thanks, Frank

Bill Murphy
01-02-2013, 03:56 PM
57 made? Maybe a Woodward? Or a Green? Or a first generation Purdey?

FRANK HALSEY

I will shoot a couple of pictures of the British gun. The engraving is very nice with 9 birds on it. The person that ordered it was a very well off banker around 1920. He was the person that supposedly talk them into making these trap guns. The engraving was his design and was on all his guns ordered from this maker. Thanks, Frank

Nine birds sounds like a W&C Scott. Did I guess right? I saw the birds and knew my first three guesses were in doubt.

There is one Parker Bros., two Knick Model Ithacas, four Flues Model Ithacas and the English gun with the bird engraving which kind of smacks if one of the $1000 grade Lefevers.

I have drooled so much over these that I ruined my screen. Thanks for sharing the lineups. The number of responses proves the popularity of these type of threads.

Ok, I owe bill another dinner. Maybe we can have it at the Southern SXS. I hope you will be there. The Parker and Ithacas were easy but the PURDEY was going to be a little tricky. I will take some more pics because it deserves it. I ordered the history from Griffin & Howe and it is 40 pages long. Very complete. It was ordered in 1923 as the first and second Sbt Purdey traps ever made. Mine is no. 2 and no. 1 is in ILLinois somewhere. I am still trying to put them back together. The person that ordered the guns was Henry Graves Jr.who, also owned many other Purdeys and other makes, also had a little contest going with Mr. James Packard. Yes the car man. The had a contest on how many things a pocket watch could do. They hired Patek Phillips to do the work and the watches were called "Supercomplication". In the end Mr. Graves watch, which had 25 different functions, won the contest. It took 5 years to make, without the ad of computers. It was at the Time Museum in Rockford Il until they closed in 1999. The watch was sold for a nice little bit of change. $10 million dollars. And I thought my Rolex was expensive. Thanks, Frank

Bob Beach provides a wonderfully complete research packet which includes not only everything Griffin & Howe has in their archives but he goes way above and beyond the call in researching any information he can find on previous owners of a gun. He follows each lead and goes right to the end of the trail on them.

Thanks, Frank. We'll be waiting for the pictures of that Purdey.

I also forgot to say that you are right about Mr. Beach. What a great person. I wish they had more of my guns. Thanks, Frank
