well was out of lead shot and needed some for the 8ga shells so had some steel bb shot i had bought at wal mart..ive used the steel bb shot in 12 and 10 ga loads before so thought i would try them in the 8 ga...this is a load i used and it works mighty well for my use on squirls... i was loading the 3 1/4 inch winchester clear hull winchester 209 primer 35 grains of blue dot powder sp 8rem. wad 2 ounce of steel bb s... 10 ga over shot card rolled crimped....this makes for a very lite load to shoot... patterened it at 40 steps put 19 holes in a pie plate of 9 inch diameter..using the cly bore parker 8 ga...killed a squirl at a guessed 60 steps yesterday morning with 3 hits in the squirl....moral of storey run to walmart if you run outa lead if you shoot a big bore gun with oipen chokes... heh works for me... charlie

I don't see a problem if you use Remington wads with petals and fairly open chokes. A friend shot steel in a Fox A Grade for years without damage and I shot my AYA ten with steel and saw no damage.
