I watched it online today at work. I checked back in every couple of hours until they hit the Foxes and Parkers in the auction. I think the A-1 Special 20ga went for $150,000 or more. The one I found most interesting was the Parker "Try Gun", which went for $10,000.

Hey George,
I actually wrote all of the hammer prices down on the Parkers if anyone is interested. If I can remember tomorrow I'll check the list while I'm at work on the Annie Oakley Gun.

A couple of years ago, a try gun, maybe the same one, went for $8000. These are great bargains for such rare guns. $150,000 for the A-1, not so much. I hope one of us now owns the A-1. Maybe Bruce will be posting pictures.

Wow, a CH with Bernard bbls for only 4000.00??? I don't care what gauge that's in, that sounds like a real good deal. Unless it was all beat to hell!!

At first i was surprised by the price of the Try Gun but it was missing all its tools. so that was a fair price.
The 410s looked nice in the pictures.

We will need to wait and see if they actually sold. The realized prices are posted but they have an error in it and only a few can be seen and I can't see the prices for the Parkers????
As we have seen in the past, items may be hammered sold but a sellers reserve wasn't met and the guns actually did not sell. The CH and the 410's may or may not have sold. If someone gets the price list, please let us know!

The PH .410 with a bid of $50,000 did not make reserve and will be returned to the owner.
The CH Bernard was a heavy No. 2 frame and in modest condition. I do not know if it met reserve or if there was a reserve.

I was surprised at the prices on a few at first glance, but I would encourage you to look at the descriptions on Julia's site. Most of these guns that seem to have sold for less than you expect were not without potential issues. The C Grade for instance has replacement wood on the forend from a different gun (metal except for the tip was original), and is also cracked. That kind of thing bothers some people, but not others.
I actually signed up to bid on the auction, and a lot of the guns had starting prices listed, which could have been a reserve, but more likely a left bid from a bidder online. I didn't really expect to purchase anything, especially with a 17% buyers premium (20% if done online). Don't forget to add that to your hammer price as you consider what might have actually been paid. On a $2,500 gun it's not a big deal, but 17% of $145,000 for that A1 Special is almost 25k! It will be interesting to see what actually sold and what didn't meet the reserve.

A DHE 2 bbl set for less than 3000.00!!! Unheard off!!
Mr. Cruz, at first glance that does seem astonishing, however the description tells a story that does account for the lower than expected price. The second set of barrels were Krupp steel so probably not fitted at the factory.
The entire gun was refinished, and the stock dimentions were not ideal. I think it was about right for the gun and the extra barrel was mostly a freebie.
I do think the 2 VH 410's went for way under value.
Did anyone notice the engraving on the Annie Oakley gun? Poor Annie probably felt insulted about the depictions of her on the receiver sides. The dogs, birds and scroll work were acceptable but I could have done a better job on her portrayal. :rotf:

I wonder if the original order for the Annie Oakley gun proved that the portraits were original to the gun. I know the gun is provenanced to either Annie or Frank, I can't remember which, but the engraving is in question. That and the cut barrels may have depressed the price. Remember, the $143,000 "Annie Oakley" hammer gun was not even Annie's gun, it was Frank's.

I am surprised by the 410's, No. 2545 and 2546. I expected them to go the way of No. 2547.... a no sale.
What do you think the reserve was on the 410 that didn't sell?
