I am touching up an "O" grade top lever 16 gage and the forend checkering looks like it may have been "mullered" on the borders. There are faint lines between the actual checkering remnants and the border remnants in places. I wouldn't have thought they did this on a lower grade gun in 1893. Anybody have one in crisp enough original condition to address this issue? Thanks, Lee.:)

Got it! Thanks a bunch! That's what I'm seeing on mine but just a bit shallower. Lee.:bigbye:

Most all Parkers will have the mullered border. The Parker Repros did not, can't figure why.
Some early hammer guns are borderless.
