View Full Version : Lapeer - Augest 11th Shoot

Our summer shoot has everything the spring shoot had without the steak dinner and awards. Skeet, trap, wobble trap, 5-stand , pigeon ring, and Sporting Clays. This is more of a fun event for those who like getting out the double and having some fun. We can shoot from 9AM to 9PM so bring plenty of shells. The women will be fixing a light lunch for those who get hungry. Hope to see everyone again. Paul

I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully gunners PArker will be done and it will make its debut on your SC course.

Will our shell bags be ready???

Yes they will - at least the wife said they would.

What shell bags? Come on Paul give it up....:)

Sir Richard gave me a number of empty cloth shot bags [ the OLD style ] that could be made into bags for shells. So, my wife is going to sew a couple - one for Rich and one for me. Rich, she's gonna put some belt loops on the back - that sound ok ? Yours will be big enough for 100 shells. Paul

Paul, I am wondering if COB got the idea from my empty hull bag that is made from old STS shot bags. I am sure he has seen it a Ernies. I will take a pnoto of it later and post it here.

The idea entered my mind at a shoot in Freeland (thats in MI Dave) earlier this year. The gentalman had it on his gun caddy to hold empty shells.

Paul I was just looking for a bag big enough and strong enough to hold empties after a shoot. No need for belt loops as I can use my vest. I would like it to be able to hold more than 100 empties if possible. just a big bag with a draw string will work or whatever she comes up with is fine and will be an improvement.

Ok, I'll tell her. Paul

Here ya go guys. It also has a drawstring sewn into the top.

Paul Harm

I think I talked the wife into useing velcro - think it will work better than a draw string.

Rich Anderson
07-19-2012, 09:41 PM
That will work.

Dave how many empties will that hold?

Dave Suponski

I would guess at least 500 Rich. After a round of sporting shooting 100 targets I use up about 3 or 4 inches of the bag.

Paul Harm

Rich, you have [ in that group of bags you gave me ] two bags sewn togeather with a shi**y draw string that will hold about 130 shells. The wife is gonna sew four togeather like the one Dave pictured. She'll do mine first with the velcro to see how it works. Who ever made that bag made the loop for the draw string a bit small - see if I can't find something to slide through it better.

Rich Anderson

Paul I didn't know there were two put together with a s%$#y draw string. Whatever the wife comes up with will be fine and undoubtly last forever. It will be a vast improvement over the Hefty garbage bag.

If you are in need of more cloth bags, I have plenty.

Mark, it's gonna be the usual eazy course - no chairs or boats. And for all you non members of LCSC we're going to charge the same price for clays - $10. Anything else is $5. Hope to see everyone. Steve and I have been moving machines - try to make it different.
